Hi Bill,
the only difference I see is that you have a newer version of
asciidoctor, my distribution (Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS) has asciidoctor
1.5.5, I see your ruby version is newer too so I guess you are using
some very up to date and possibly unstable Linux distribution. I am
not sure what the root problem is but the asciidoctor markup for that
paragraph is due to change as it doesn't render the inline image
correctly in the PDF translation anyway (asciidoctor-pdf does not yet
handle floating inline images).
The asciidoctor-pdf package is simply installed from the Fedora repo:
rubygem-asciidoctor-pdf-1.5.0-0.2.alpha.13.fc26.noarch
Best wishes,

Hi Claude,
note that is the version of the asciidoctor package that you have newer,
not asciidoctor-pdf. IIRC the RedHat repo managers have chosen to
package asciidoctor v1.5.6.1 which has some known breaking new features.
For example https://github.com/asciidoctor/asciidoctor/issues/2330
https://github.com/asciidoctor/asciidoctor/issues/2369 .
The transition from asciidoctor v1.5.5 to v1.5.6 has several breaking
changes that impact related packages that use the output of asciidoctor,
not all of these other packages have caught up and I believe the RedHat
repo managers were unwise to move on to v1.5.6 before all the impacted
related packages caught up.
