Someone may not have access to Facebook or other immediate information
about WSJT, and there are actually still people running with older
versions than 1.9.
Upgrading in unison is not normally as critical as for v2.0.0 FT8 users
where there is a incompatible protocol change, but yes we are
considering options that are not too complex to implement and will not
make our application more attractive to AV software trying to disable it.
And a check mark for whether you want the RX frequency (green post) to
be automatically reset to own TX frequency at a new CQ call after a
QSO. This keeps the RX frequency list virtually free of anything other
than own correspondence. This can of course be done manually, but an
automation option would be practical.
The Rx audio offset is automatically moved to a station you choose to
answer when you double-click their decoded message. If you want move the
Rx audio offset to the Tx audio offset it only takes one click even when
choosing a new Tx frequency (CTRL+click on the waterfall). We prefer to
only automate actions when it is necessary, the idea is that you the
operator are still in charge for all the important decisions. Moving the
Rx offset just because a CQ is being sent may surprise many users who
had deliberately set it somewhere else.
Maybe one more thing: Why not make “Auto seq” and “Call 1^st” a
possibility also on JT9/65 etc? I usually forget to answer when I’m
(quite seldom) running JT65 because I’m used to FT8. And I’m not alone
on that - I think. J
This tends to fall into the category of unnecessary automation, you have
plenty of time to choose a QSO partner from caller(s) in those modes. If
your attention is elsewhere then perhaps you shouldn't be calling CQ in
the first place?
We did add "Auto Seq" for JT65 an QRA64 in v1.9 as the microwave EME
users often have a lot of workload between T/R periods with dishes to
point and other things like Doppler correction adjustments, somehow it
has gone AWOL in v2.0.0 but there would be no urgency to put it back for
HF/VHF/UHF users who don't have the same workload during QSOs.
