Well I hope that wouldn't be the case, since it's not in the budget to
upgrade this machine any time soon so that would mean dropping the
mode(s) I've got the most enjoyment from in the last few years.

I realized there was another update for 10.14.2 that hadn't been
applied, so I did that and restarted everything.  Now it takes roughly
11 seconds from when the start of the transmit cycle should be until
there's audio output to the SignaLink.  Seems I've moved from "this
feels slow" to unusable now.  Tried resetting the configuration to no
avail, will keep poking around looking for something concrete.
