Bill,
So what I am hearing is the following.
1) New release of wsjtx was put out that is not compatible with prior
releases and by edict everyone must use the new release.
2) The developers decided to use some new feature which is not
supported in currently supported versions of the linux operating system.
3) You expect users to build every release because of bad decision
made by the development team.
I am basically being told to go to blazes because of poor project
management and bad decision making.
To install a version of the operating system that supports your new
software is about 1 week per machine so my choice is to not use wsjtx
or waste a lot of time. I need to wipe my hard drive and installing a
new os then re-installing and testing all of the products that I
currently have running.
Guess which option I will choose.
You have just lost a wsjtx user.

George
George,
you are still misunderstanding. You do not need to upgrade your
operating system. We have not made WSJT-X incompatible with your
operating system. We have not used some feature that is not available in
your operating system. The binary installers we provide have always been
provided with a caveat that they target a particular Linux distribution
and version and if you don't happen to be using the distribution and
version we target for then you must build from sources.
Frankly you are showing a severe misunderstanding of how Linux works and
perhaps you should not be choosing it as your computing platform unless
you only intend to use it to run packages that are included in its
distribution repositories.
Stop complaining and build WSJT-X from sources, again I say it is not
hard. I might even have been willing to help you out until I received
this message.
The only poor project management is yours and the only bad decision
making is yours. Please read my original message again with a cool head
and try and understand what I am saying and why there are no problems
for you if you would just try and do what I am recommending rather than
firing off obnoxious personal e-mails to me.
Bill.
P.S. I am copying this back to the list, if you don't like that then
tough. Sometimes the s**t the WSJT-X developers have to put up with has
to be made public.
