As previously mentioned, I almost always call directional CQ. This morning on 160m, I was calling CQ DX when a stateside station called me. Happens all the time. What doesn’t normally happen is I return his call and send him a report.
I did NOT instigate that call to him. The receive frequency marker was up at the top end of the waterfall. I did not double click anywhere on the screen. In fact, I shift clicked to move my transmitter a little further from his frequency. The next sequence, my WSJT-X sent him a report and moved the receive frequency bar down to him near the low end of the scale! I did not click anywhere else on the screen, other than to move my transmit frequency by shift clicking on the waterfall a couple hundred Hz lower than I had been. I run with Hold TX Freq checked at all times, and I have never used Call 1st.
