Hi Al, Thanks for advises.
Why u have a horizontal loop? From web photo, most is vertical (vertical as the hollywood sign on hill) Are these receive loop consists of 1 turn of coil and another outer shielding tube, earthed to eliminate minor e field pickup. Outter shield tube with a small gap, not a full ring as it short circuit the inner coil. Is the coil as construction above, for use in MW AM radio factroy connect to signal generator to create a standard h field to be picked up by ferrite bar in mw am radio, since year 1950 style? 73 Simon On Monday, December 31, 2018, Al Pawlowski <k6...@almont.com> wrote: > The loop you reference is a broadband, amplified, rx only loop - not > really a (small tuned) magnetic loop. > > I use an LZ1AQ setup with a horizontal loop, vertical loop and a vertical > dipole - switchable via the LZ1AQ's onboard input relays. > > Both loops are significantly less “noisy" than the dipole and the vertical > loop is usually quieter than the horizontal loop. > > I also have a rotatable, vertically mounted, small tuned loop (MFJ) which > can, at times, beat the LZ1AQ loops on rx SNR because of the tuning - the > tradeoff, of course, being bandwidth limits. > > > Al Pawlowski, K6AVP > Los Osos, CA USA > > > > On Dec 29, 2018, at 14:28, wsjt-devel-requ...@lists.sourceforge.net wrote: > > Date: Sun, 30 Dec 2018 05:36:06 +0800 > From: Simon <simon...@gmail.com> > To: "k...@arrl.net" <k...@arrl.net> > Cc: WSJT software development <wsjt-devel@lists.sourceforge.net> > Subject: Re: [wsjt-devel] SOTA test at 'low radio noise' area to > evaluate 'slow mode' perfromance > > How good is magnetic loop antenna, may be with amplifier for receive > only, in REJECTING man made noise, especially at or near city area, > with huge number of SMPS, florescent lamp etc. at people's home? > > This websdr use loop and received around 90 to 100 countries per week > on pskreporter.info statistics.
