It has nothing to do with "separate carrier". Rather, the messages are being sent as free text and therefore are truncated when longer than 13 characters.

DXpeditions using compound callsigns like KH1/KH7Z are properly supported in DXpedition mode. Those like 9LY1JM that use nonstandard callsigns are not supported.

Note: Needless to say, it's best to test operation with your nonstandard call before starting an expedition. ;-)
