Hi Chris,
the easiest way to demonstrate the misbehaviour is to clone the
"Default" configuration ("Menu->Configurations") then switch to the new
cloned configuration. You will see one or more apparent duplicate
unexpected configurations listed on the menu:
From the links I provided above you will see that he KDE team have made
a change to fix this misfeature but I am not sure which distribution and
versions have the fix yet. The screen capture above is using an up to
date Kunbuntu 18.10 system.
