Did you read the -rc5 announcement before downloading the new package ???
"Windows users will discover that WSJT-X v2.1.0 has been made available
as a 64-bit MS Windows build for 64-bit versions of Windows since Vista.
This version has one known defect. The audio input device level will be
reset to 100% when WSJT-X is started, when the input audio device is
changed, and when switching to a new configuration. This is a Qt
framework defect that we have reported and is being fixed in a future
release; until then users should take care to set the device audio level
back to 0dB or lower depending on requirements. Note that many sound
cards and chips have real gain ahead of the ADC, as much as 14dB, which
will be turned to the maximum due to this defect and is usually
undesirable when using WSJT-X.
"Despite this annoying defect, we recommend the 64-bit version of WSJT-X
on MS Windows as it has significant advantages in decoding speed."

I have discovered that the receive audio level in FT4 is much more
sensitive than the other modes. I had initially kept my receiver
audio at the same level as I had been using for FT8 but quickly
discovered that it was too high, causing many cycles of no decode.
Dropping the receive audio down to a much lower level seemed to
improve the decode rate rather significantly. This may or may not
be the case with the systems in use at other stations but I thought
I would report my finding as it might assist others just coming onto
FT4.
I also found that upon execution of FT4, my microphone audio slider
in Windows went from +0.4 db to +30 db, or maxed out. The only way
to get the receive audio input correct was to go back into the
Wi! ndows Audio panel and manually set it as close to 0.0 db as possible.
Has anyone else encountered this?
So far I have thoroughly enjoyed the new FT4 mode. Thus far I have been
using it
in the S/P mode, not RTTY RU mode. Thus far I have bagged almost two
dozen contacts in record time. Much faster than any of the other JT modes.
Thank you, developers! As long as there is FT4 activity I feel that
I will adopt this new mode for general use, not particularly for RTTY
contest use. I hope that a large portion of the FT8 crowd follows me
over to FT4 because it is MUCH faster. I love it!
