Hi Serge & all,

Not all Loggers soft understand the concept of submod.

The MODE and SUBMODE, we are talking about here, are a concept from the ADIF specification. Any logger can handle interiorly the data in the manner which it prefers. The problem occurs when data is exchanged with the external world. ADIF should be such an exchange tool, but..............

On the other hand, how does FT4 differ from FT8 for LOTW? Nothing. Why, for what purposes it was worth reinventing the bike with a mod / submod.

This opinion is shared by many people, but not by the ADIF spec.

What do you say, colleagues?

I say that the ADIF spec says: "<MODE:4>MFSK <SUBMODE:3>FT4" for what we call FT4 and "<MODE:3>FT8" for what we call FT8. That is the way you have to go when you want to exchange logs at the ADIF level, even if you consider it as stupid.

Best wishes,
