I've seen discussions on this issue, but I had never experienced it until last night. So I thought I would add to the thread my experience last night in case something new might be brought to light in my observations.
Last night a friend and I were on the phone and 160m chashing TO5M in F/H mode. For a couple of hours he was in and out and everything was fine. But after a while, my waterfall just went blank and nothing was being decoded. About the same time my friend experienced the same thing. We both restarted WSTJx to no avail. I use a Configuration setup and he just manually selects Hound mode. Still nothing. I used my Configuration and went to normal FT8 and was now seeing WF activity and decodes again. Switching back to the DXP Configuration, the WF was again blank. Back to the normal Configuration, everything was working, so I turned on Hound mode there and decoding was just fine. I went to my DXP Configuration, the WF again went blank and decodes stopped. I ended up going back to the Normal Configuration and selecting Hound and all was good for the rest of the unsuccessful session. BTW, neither one of us worked the TO5M last night. But we did spend about 3 hours on the phone solving all the worlds problems. That is, until his wife called him to bed. So ended a great QSO. George - WB5JJJ
