The simplest way to protect your Icom 9700 from local HF transmitters and
lightning is to put quarter wave length stubs directly on the rear connector
for each band. This does not compromise the receiver sensitivity or reduce
the transmitter operation at all, except if the DC feed to a preamp is
required, in which case a BPF in the remote preamp may be a better solution.
