Hi John.  OK, I did as you said and it seems to work just fine.  Thanks for 
your help.

Should I keep sysctl.conf and  "sudo   cp   $HOME/Desktop/sysctl.conf   /etc" 
on my computer for future use?  You said download sysctl.conf to desk top only. 
 Can I keep it in a folder and move to desktop when needed?
