Hi Dave,
I did read it, it is not a straight forward as you suggest since the
contest types supported by FT8/FT4/MSK144 are more generic than the ones
enumerated by the ADIF specification. I am not ignoring your suggestion,
I just don't see an easy solution without adding new configuration fields.
Note that WSJT-X has a facility to export a Cabrillo Entry file and
exporting that prompts for the contest id already.
TBH the most valuable addition would be a way of exporting the contest
log as an EDI entry file suitable for Region 1 VHF and up contests. Even
there it is not straightforward as EDI format required separate entry
files per band in multi-band contests.

I noticed that WSJT-X informed me to "switch to the RTTY RU"
mode in the Advanced settings when it detected "RU" in the CQ
message when I was monitoring the frequencies the FT Roundup
contest is using this weekend.
I, like many others, don't bother to switch out the
wsjtx_log.adi file when contesting, so all QSO's are logged to
the same file. However, the only differentiator I have to
detect different log entries between regular QSOs and Contest
QSOs is the addition of the <state:xx> field and the serial
number in the RST field. However, this may easily be confused
with the Field Day or other entries.
I looked up the ADIF 3.1.1 log format and saw there is a
Contest-ID field provided. Would it be feasible to enhance
WSJT-X to add this field in for the Field Day, FT8 Roundup,
NA/EU VHF, WW Digi, etc. contests when those modes are
selected in the WSJT-X Advanced Preferences?
If you want a contributor to do this, I'm willing to write the
code. This shouldn't be too much effort...
Please advise and 73,
