Seems a slight mod to the expression will allow for a 2x1 to be
recognized.

HI Mike and Andy,
thanks for the issue report. This defect is already fixed for the next
release. BTW note your proposed fix is incorrect as it would identify
AB12CDE as a standard format call. I'll leave it to interested readers
to decide what a correct regular expression might be.
