I cannot replicated that, when I send a configuration name which doesn't exist no such thing happens, instead a new configuration is created with the new name. The new configuration will have default values for all settings.

If you have a recipe for causing the receipt of a Configuration Switch(14) message to destroy the WSJT-X settings file then please let me know as that would be a serious defect.
