I have done simple list file of US_callsign=state to cqrlog that can be
used with wsjtx remote connection.
The list is created from file that can be downloaded from fcc
(ftp://wirelessftp.fcc.gov/pub/uls/complete/l_amat.zip) holding all
information of callsign holders.
When US callsign is received from remote wsjtx-UDP the list is scanned
to find the callsign. If it is found the state is added to monitor line
and also to temporary list file of callsign=state.
Temporary file exists only during current wsjtx remote session and it is
used first to look at callsign before search of the full list file. That
way the seek time is much shorter with callsigns that are currently
working on band that is monitored.
Good :
-callsign/states are up to date better than using qrz or other
callbooks that depends on users update activity
Bad :
- list does not tell state of mobile or portable station
- list can not be used with all countries state/county base as
there is no free information of callisgin holders as it is against
privacy laws (at least here in Finland)
I have another suggestion for this:
There is already working software for multicarrier fox. That same part
of program could be used to send additional data as free text on second
carrier.
User could activate additional transmits, let's say on every 10th CQ
transmission, that could then send user defined free text carrier with
cq carrier.
That text could hold special information about locator, state or what
ever fits to free text frame length.
What I am personally missing is the information of (rare) locators of
/MM stations that do not now fit to standard CQ message of special callsign.
I know the odd sides;
- Using two carriers will drop the signal level (when same TX power
used) and takes more bandwidth on already crowded bands. That is why to
send it only on every 10th transmission, or what ever seems to be suitable.
- Perhaps free text message should be tied somehow to main carrier,
maybe using same kind of hash code as special callsigns have now. That
would then help to connect free text to cq in case of several stations
sending them in same period.
