Hi WSJT-X Developers/Support: The “Power Slider” in WSJT-X Version 2.5.4 (and 2.5.3) is acting “goofy”. This goofy behavior started with WSJT-X version 2.5.3 for Mac OS. It continues in the current version 2.5.4. In a nutshell, the slider’s wacky behavior bug consists of these two (2) parts:
Slider is acting "upside down" (the top of the slider’s barometer icon is now 0% power & the bottom is 100% power). Whereas, in version 2.5.2 (and earlier) the top is 100% & the bottom is 0%. This upside down part gets worse when you add in the next part of the slider’s goofy behavior; Slider jumps around in a crazy fashion (jerky, unpredictable, random) when you use your mouse/trackball to adjust it in the WSJT-X GUI. Whereas, in version 2.5.2 (and earlier), the slider worked smoothy and flawlessly. Instead of repeating the details here, that I’ve already previously submitted about that goofy slider behavior, I am going to refer you to the growing postings on the WSJT-X group at Groups.io <http://groups.io/>. These posted articles, including my two (2) prior postings, clearly show that many users of the latest versions of WSJT-X are experiencing this slider bug. Many, like me, have reverted back to WSJT-X version 2.5.2 (because this version’s slider behaves properly). You can find my (K4QR) two (2) prior detailed postings about the slider’s goofy behavior on Groups.io <http://groups.io/> at the following links (URLs): My (K4QR) Previous Postings About this Slider Bug: ================================================== Posted Article’s Title: "Pwr" Slider Acting Goofy in WSJT-X v2.5.4 [same problem in v2.5.3]; works fine in v2.5.2 URL: https://wsjtx.groups.io/g/main/message/32218?p=%2C%2C%2C20%2C0%2C0%2C0%3A%3Arecentpostdate%2Fsticky%2C%2Cpower+slider+goofy%2C20%2C2%2C0%2C89085026 Posted Article’s Titel: "Pwr" Slider Acting Goofy in WSJT-X v2.5.3 URL: https://wsjtx.groups.io/g/main/message/30896?p=%2C%2C%2C20%2C0%2C0%2C0%3A%3Arecentpostdate%2Fsticky%2C%2Cpower+slider+goofy%2C20%2C2%2C0%2C87914605 You can find the growing number of similar postings complaining about that slider bug on Groups.io <http://groups.io/> , by logging onto Groups.io <http://groups.io/> , and then, going to the WSJT-X group at this link/URL: https://wsjtx.groups.io/g/main/topics Then you can search the Messages in this group. In particular, I would suggest you do two (2) different searches to get most/all of the posted articles that may be spread across different topics. My recommendation is to use the following search keywords: Search Keywords Results "power slider goofy” => My (K4QR) two (2) prior postings complaining about this slider bug; "power slider” => large # of postings complaining about this slider bug I believe this slider bug was fixed some moons ago in a much earlier version of WSJT-X. Based on some searches of WSJT-X SourceForge (or Groups.io <http://groups.io/>), I ran across a couple of posted articles referring to a similar bug. We look forward to your prompt attention and quick resolution of this slider bug in WSJT-X. My sincere thanks for all the wonderful work you, as developers/volunteers, do to insure the Joe Taylor’s wonderful gift to amateur radio (his WSJT-X digital mode software) continues to exemplify what’s best in ham radio.
