Respectfully, this proposal is not at all a reinvention of JS8. JS8 is a mode. All modes use bandwidth and take time to send expressions of one form or another. This proposed system is not a mode at all. Rather it is a system of USING an existing mode, in this case the WSJTX modes, in a way that would not send actual expressions but instead would send only choices OF expressions. A completely different concept, allowing extremely limited throughput to handle very robust chat in very low SNR situations. The compromise to this system lies in the fact that it provides only limited freedom of expression, since all the expressions must be chosen from the existing database. This limitation can be mitigated by continually developing the best optimized database possible. Clark AA8SH
