Hi, it's me again, K4DKW.

I am operating the only Elementary School Amateur Radio Club in all of Northern Ohio.  This is our third year and the kids have participated 4x in the ARRL School Club Roundup.  We won it October 2023, have two second place finishes (February 2023 and 2024) and am now awaiting the results of the recent October 2024 contest.

As you know, it's vitally important to get younger people interested in Amateur Radio.  Once they get introduced to it, it's just as important to maintain that interest.  That's why I'm writing you.

Continuing my goal, of giving my kids a wide array of varied experiences, I'd like to further expose them to FT8 and the February SCR contest would be a great venue to do it.

I'm wondering if it's possible to add the ARRL SCR as a contest option to wsjt-x, hopefully, in time for this February's contest.  I've already given a really brief demo of FT8 and they were intrigued.  Having an option to contest with it, would really get them engaged.

I also realize that February could be a little soon and appreciate you considering my idea.  As most kids are more "computer literate", than most of my generation, this could easily become a real hook to get them even more involved and possibly licensed.

Thanks again for letting me join and giving me the opportunity to share my activities surrounding the constant need for Amateur Radio Outreach.

Respectfully,
Jeffrey Meyer, K4DKW
Control Operator for the Award Winning Communion of Saints Elementary School Amateur Radio Club in Cleveland Heights, Ohio
