Glen, Version 1 certs should be fine. There's even a test for v1 certs in wss4j (wssec.TestWSSecurityX509v1), although it's currently broken as the cert in question has expired. I'll get around to fixing it over the next while.

Hello, Apparently Sun's XWSS product needs x.509 version 3 certificates, available only with openssl or JDK6's version of keytool. The version 1 certificates generated by JDK5's keytool will not work. Does anyone know if it is the same situation with WSS4J?
