Process question regarding WTP's use of the Target
setting.
My
understanding is that the Target setting is a way of saying "this bug is on the
schedule" for a particular milestone. If the Target is not set, then the
bug should considered currently unscheduled; not necessarily a
rejection of the bug report, it just hasn't be accepted/scheduled for
implementation in a particular milestone yet.
If the
above is correct, then am I right that we should not be setting Target
merely as a way to say "won't be fixed in in this release". In the case of
this rampdown hot list, we would then use some other mechanism (probably just
email) of getting the bug off the list. And note in the bug report why it
can't be implemented in this release.
Or
is the process that every bug should be targeted to either this release or
some future release, and each milestone we roll forward the ones that can't be
fixed?
Just
wanted to make sure I was on the same page as others.
Thanks, Ted

Subject: [wtp-dev] Hot Bug Status Required for RC2
Importance: High
I've updated the Hot List based on adopter input. There are 6 that have no target milestone. Would assignees please target these. There are 13 targetted for 1.0. Please report your status for RC2. Should any of these be defered?
