The Java naming FAQ [1] seems to agree with just using "Java EE" in general terms:
Q. Can I use the new naming convention if my product uses J2EE 1.4?
A. You should continue to use the old naming convention and keep saying J2EE 1.4.
However, in broad brush platform discussions, you may use Java EE.
Time to toss out the "J2EE" perspective ;)

That is my understanding as well. It’s J2EE 1.4, but Java EE 5.0. What that means for situations where you want to refer to it in a version-agnostic manner is unclear. I think Java EE is supposed to be the new term, but I haven’t been able to find any docs documenting terms in a version-agnostic manner.

Subject: Re: [wtp-dev] J2EE or JEE
Has the term been changed for previous versions? i.e. Are J2EE 1.4 applications now known as JEE 1.4 apps? As far as I can tell from pages such as [1] the answer is no.

Since Sun changed the term J2EE in favor of JEE, are there any plans to sweep through the WTP code-base and change the labels and documentation accordingly? Should this be on the 2.0 plan?
