Cristina, For selfhelp, you can look at the implementation of the tomcat adapter located inside of org.eclipse.jst.server.tomcat.core and the ui part is on org.eclipse.jst.server.tomcat.ui. Also the preview server located inside of org.eclipse.wst.server.preview.adapter, should server as a good sample.
I did a search on that message in the 3.2 (our HEAD stream) code but I wasn't able to find a hit.
