The idea is to make a parser an easily replaceable component of JSDT. So it's not so critical right now which parser we will use. We can switch to acorn or something else later if we want/need.

    Gorkem for esprima use parser, the only thing that I find it's
    shame is that acorn (as you know) provides the capability to
    extends it to support QML, JSX, etc

    I'm not sure that esprima can do that.
