Folks,

There are at least two WTP committers on the list of Orbit committers
that are going to be removed as Orbit committers- dacarver and sclarke. If
WTP still needs to make contributions to Orbit, we should avoid the "remove
as committer only to need to re-add as committer" process. (David said
that by commenting on the bug, you can stay on the inactive list, just in
case you may later need to commit something.)

FWIW,

There is about 50 on the list to become inactive.
And about 18 on the list to stay active.

I want to emphasize that if someone is made "inactive" when in fact they
have contributions to make they would be welcome to become active again.
But I know of no other way to remove those that are truly inactive and have
no interest in Orbit any longer.

Comment in follow bug if you are on the "presumed inactive list" but want
to stay on the "presumed inactive" list.
Bug 498936- remove inactive committers

There are about 68 committers on the Orbit project. Only 4 or 5 I think are
truly "active" with maybe another 10 "likely to be active".

So, I would like to clean up the list and remove about 50 committers!

Please read through the list attached to
Bug 498936- remove inactive committers
and if your name is on the "presumed inactive" but you want to stay as an
Orbit committer, then please make a note in the bug saying so.

Otherwise, in a few days (about Tuesday August 2) I will begin the task of
"retiring" people from the Orbit committer list.

I do not really care how many people are on the list, but I know there are
"committers" there who are no longer active in Eclipse and some that
probably do not even do software development any longer! It is not good to
never clean up the list and this is just taking care of a matter than
should take place once a year or so.

Thanks,
