Architecturally I want to make Watir more pluggable and easier for people to
create port/implementations for it. I think that adding a WebDriver-based
implemenation is one of the more important approaches and therefore I
strongly encourage the work you (Jari) are planning to make with this.
Charley and I have talked about this being the right way to move for a
couple of years now, so I'm really happy to see your enthusiasm for it.

At the same time, i think it will be a big project and will take time and I
don't have plans to drop everything else. I've seen how much time it has
taken for FireWatir to go from concept to initial release and it still has
some things we can work on for it. I've also seen the time that Celerity
took. I expect that the WebDriver project will similarly take some time to
come together.

In my daily work, we still have not been able to port many of our tests to
use FireWatir because we make signficant use of the 10% of Watir::IE that
has not yet been ported to FireWatir. That final 10% or 20% can take years.
I don't see us throwing away any code in a couple of months.

We should probably set up a skype conference call to discuss these issues.
