I've cleaned up the current page with thumbnailed gifs at 150px width. It still looks a little cluttered to me and possibly detracts from the look fand feel.
Another consideration is that all these extra images slow down page load time ;) In my mind, getting your logo on the front of a popular open source wiki page is a pretty decent bargain in terms of free advertising. Another way to approach this might be to restrict front page advertising to those companies which actively contribute or finance development/watir related events.
