I concur with these gentlemen's comments on this nit. I feel it is always less desireable to place file lines inside an array with regards to memory and performance. I'd say about the only advantage of using an array is the functionality that is comes with an array/container as opposed to pulling one line at a time. For this example there is really no need nor advantage gained from using an array. Perhaps the OP will take all of this stuff and post the golden version [s]he uses.
