York River State Park-Williamsburg, VA
York River State Park, site of three mountain bike trails built and
maintained by the Eastern Virginia Mountain Biking Association,
provides miles of excitement in an awesome natural setting. The
mountain bike trail system is designed as single track loops for
mountain bike use only. Situated along the York River in Southeast
Virginia, the bike trails vary in difficulty with challenging courses
that wind throughout various habitats and terrain. Trails go through
both tight and open forested areas and offer spectacular views of
boggy ravines and secluded glens as riders wind through short
switchbacks, right curves and short steep descents. The Marl Ravine
Trail, 5.67 miles long, is cut through will ancient shell deposits,
creating a coastal plain environment that provides unique challenges
to mountain bikers looking for advanced biking trails. For those
looking more of a leisurely ride, the Laurel Glen Trail, is rated
beginner to intermediate and winds through a mature hardwood forest.
Bike trails start near the visitor center, which boasts ample parking,
restrooms and a picnic area.
