On Monday I was a bicycle commuter, on Wednesday I signed in the WVU Cycling
team and on Friday I was at my first race! An incredible and dense week!
The experience was so intense that few words cannot even describe it... or
maybe my scratches can do it!!
Lack of experience mixed with a little bit of excitement brought me to make
few mistakes.. always ended in a fall!! But it's part of the game.. and as
the sage said" if you never fall, you'll never learn". Wisp is an amazing
place.. and I can't wait to go there again!!! So different tracks, a
beautiful point of view of the mountain across Maryland and West Virginia..
My season was pretty short.. just enter the team for one amazing race.. (my
leg are still saying fortunately only one!)
But at the end of the weekend I learned so much things that I'm so eager to
improve and learn much more from the mountain bike world!
There's an entire year before next one, and with the help and suggestion of
the guys of the team I believe I can do much better next time!!!
In the mean time I love to enjoy the trail around Morgantown!
But for sure I need a better bike!!! Cannondale will be the first choice!

Oggetto: Re: [WVU Cycling] Re: Blog posts/Anecdotes

Example:

This season was a whirlwind of feelings, and a little reality slap in the
face. It was my first time promoting a race (our home race), which I hope to
do again (and hopefully better) in the future. It was also my last
collegiate race season (Phd not going to happen) after being off and on
since 2003. Coming in 2nd in the ACCC championship was a disappointment but
it was a hard fought season. It was my first race season back from ACL
surgery, and I was slower, but much more popular.
I loved hanging out with the other teams in the conference. One of the
coolest things all season was seeing the NCSU course marked with hardcore
"Zerbe Options", that made me feel better than any podium result. And even
if I wasn't on the starting line someone would say "Zerbe gets the holeshot"
even though I was usually bringing up the rear. Other highlights was racing
my new Cannondale Scalpel Carbon and getting 2nd in the Super D at VT on my
first day riding it. Similarly, the first day riding my Cannondale Moto
built up with a Rockshox Totem and a Truvativ Hammerschmidt was for a sweet
mass start Super D that landed me in 2nd once again. I loved making the
Super D course and hearing all the racers be so stoked once we all crossed
the finish line. Also clearing the table tops every lap of the short track
race was funny too. Wisp is just such a gem of a venue. Anyway, I hope that
next year the team can take all this upcoming fresh blood and pump it out
harder than all of us old and lactic legs like mine. And hopefully
Collegiate Nationals will be in West Virginia for the next two years!
