April is quickly approaching and that means so is the home race. Just wanted to give everyone a run down of what will be going on and also what will need to be done to make sure it goes off as well as last year. First off, Clarksburg has been gracious enough to open their city up to us again for the crit on Saturday the 9th. With this they have also agreed to allow us to have a public race following the collegiate events. Basically, they are wanting to make it a bigger event this year as to try to turn it into a festival type of event with more community involvement. With all this in mind, it is no wonder that is is going to take a great deal of team cooperation and coordination to make sure this thing goes off without a hitch and also so that we can continue to grow the event every year. If everyone would simply just keep these dates, as well as essentially the entire week before, in mind that would be great. Things such as course sweeping (for RR), event organization, course marshaling, community involvement (with the kids), and general prep work will need done and the more bodies we have, the quicker, and smoother, things can get done. I will have more information at next weeks meeting as I am going to a meeting with the city officials tomorrow (Friday) and will be bringing that info with me. In the mean time, brainstorm some ideas for the weekend and bring them to next weeks meeting. Oh yea, there is one final thing.........with these events, it is always good to apply Murphy's Law (last year an old lady drove around a barricade and out onto the course..........during the A race!!!) so we need to try to think of everything that could go wrong. Hope everyone is as pumped as I am!
