I saw this article on pinkbike today and I though someone of the
people in the club might find it worth applying to be part of their
"flight crew."  The article below explains it and the second link is
their website.  The first link has the facebook page link to more
details.  But basically they take normal riders/racers and give them
their bikes (like a sponsorship but you don't need to be a pro) to
spread the word about their company.  I think for some of the people
in the club especially those looking for new or better bikes and gear
could actually get in their "crew".  Their description fits many of
our club members; rides bikes for fun, occasionally races, travels
around for the races to different areas, talks to people, etc... Being
on the team in general might help the cause.
Plus you get to go to Sea Otter in California for one of the biggest
bike conventions in the world.  I actually remember seeing a guy
during the app state race who was part of this program and he was a B
or C rider so they don't even pick based on ability.
