I also could not attend the new members meeting but I can give you a breakdown of the club if you would like. There are two tiers to the club: 1) basic club membership and 2) racer membership. You can be a mountain racer and/or a road racer (both have their own price). Basic club membership gets you involved with the club but does not require as much commitment. You get deals through our sponsors as long as you do the volunteer hours and you get to race the home race for free. Racer membership is more expensive but it includes fees for weekend races and gives you a better discount with sponsors. Fall semester is mountain/cross season while the spring is road season. We host both a mountain and road race and we require everyone involved in the club to help out at both events. Our mountain race is the weekend of Sept 21/22.
We strongly encourage all our members to post rides they are doing here on the forum so others can join and people new to the area can learn various loops. A lot of our members ride everyday (or almost) so rides are happening all the time whether or not they are posted. As far as fitting the cycling team into your schedule, it is very doable. The beauty about it is that you can be involved as much or as little as you want. All we are looking for are fun people who love bikes as much as we do. If you don't already know, we also have a facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/WVUcycling some people post there instead. If you have questions or want to ride, post away and someone will hopefully respond.
