So, for those that don't know, I broke my elbow on the Thursday ride and
unfortunately I have to get surgery on it, so I'm pretty much out to lead
and mark trails at big bear for the home race. It is also possible I might
miss the race entirely depending on what day I get operated on. I'm sorry
to have to step down like this, but honestly there isn't a whole lot that
needs doing before next weekend.

Originally, there was a plan to ride big bear tomorrow (Sunday) to do some
marking and practicing. If a group wants to go, that would still be great.
I have arrows and apparently Matt left two staple guns at the guard house.

Here is what should be marked sometime next week, or at least ridden.

   - A full circuit of the yellow trail (Sunday loop)
   - Little Canaan trail to roadside trail. (Part of Saturday loop)

I personally don't think it's necessary to put up a ton of arrows, as the
trail system is pretty well marked as is. Basically, Saturday follows red
"Big bear race" arrows and Sunday follows yellow arrows. Mid-trail marking
is really only necessary if the direction appears ambiguous. One thing to
keep in mind is *all arrows we put up have to be taken down the following
week* (and no later as hunting season opens Oct 1). If there are any down
trees, let me (or Matt) know so we can have the owner (Mark Schooley) cut
them out.

The most important things will be signage for turns connecting trails,
which doesn't need to be put up until day before, and can be accessed
quickly via fire roads. I will try to make a map detailing where signs
should be placed for Saturday and Sunday, and where course marshals should
be and have this information ready for the next meeting.

Also remember the flyer and race loops are here:

Might get started on sign-work tomorrow if anyone not riding is interested.

Sorry again and please don't hesitate to ask me any questions.
