This will help you to get going. I can't see in what way your code is wrong like this, also my time is limited :-) Only if you get more experience you can start an app from scratch. There are many ways to work with wxArt2D, simple and complex.
On your code i don't see tools, the notebook is more complex and might cause your problems, but i really don;t know. And i can only help if you change a sample in a small way, so i can repeat it here.
