"id expression as operand" sounds like it might be that one of the
wxUSE_XXX defines is perhaps something more complicated that the
preprocessor doesn't like? All of the wxLUA_USE_XXX defines are either
1 or 0 so they're simple.

It could also be that there are a lot of these preprocessor conditions
and it's stack has overflowed. I know that VC6 w/o the service packs
has a lot of problems with "complicated" code.

If you feel inspired you could use /* */ to rem out the first half,
then the second half... and so on to narrow down where the problem
really is. I don't think it should take too long and it would be nice
to figure out if there is a real problem or not.
