I don't get this error using the same binaries and neither should you.
The wxLuaTreeItemData actually takes any type of data as an input
parameter.
I opened a DOS prompt, went to the wxLua/bin dir and ran
> lua.exe ..\samples\tree.wx.lua
Can you explain a little how you are running this?
