Creating a New Dialog Box from an App

Can someone show me a minimal piece of code that has a wxPerl application
that spawns a new dialog box when someone presses a button on the app
window.  I would need to pass some data from the application window to the
dialog and vice-versa.
 
This would be a custom dialog.  I can't use the task specific dialogs such
as wxFileDialog or WxDirDialog.
