Hello,

I want to use WxPerl to develop an application with a graphical interface for Win32 and Linux.

As my application is multi-language (en, fr, de, ...), I want to use the mechanisms integrated in WxPerl (call to gettext in the source code) but I'm totally lost (I'm a newbie with WxWidgets) !!!

I have already read the articles about i18n in the WxWidgets documentation and I have tried to do what is explained but it doesn't do the trick :-\ I think something is missing in my understanding of the approach for the translation ...

Could you give me a tutorial which explain with details the different action to realize to adapt my source code to manage the translations of the messages of my application ?

I develop on Linux (Ubuntu 8.04) with Perl 5.8.8, wxWidgets 2.8.7 and I use wxDesigner (2.14) to generate the Perl code of the graphical interface.

It is my first development with wxWidgets and my first development with internationalization problems, so be indulgent and give me as much details as you can : nothing seems easy for me !

What I did :

   * xgettext *.pl
   * msginit --locale=fr --input=messages.po
   * added the translation in the file "fr.po"
   * msgfmt fr.po

It gives a file "messages.mo" but what must I do with this file ???

Thanks for your help.

Patrick
