  Ugh! I should be punished for such an unhelpful error
message...  I am in the process of releasing Alien::wxWidgets
0.41, which will correct that.

  In the meantime, could you post here the output of

This is perl, v5.8.8 built for i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi

I have installed gcc-3.4 and g++-3.4

setting CC and CXX to the paths of the above doesn't seem to work.
