I've never found tools like that much help when making GUI Apps, and I've done a bit of GTK, QT and now Wx. I use graph paper or Dia and Emacs (or Padre once I finish my emacs mode for it) >> I have a hard time believing you do the GUI layout in your code manually >> with VI. Paper is best for layour, I don't know a single UI designer who doesn't start with paper, a graphical mock up using a graphics package, and then go to their text editor / IDE.
