I am trying to get more of the CPAN testers to smoke Padre but many of them
cannot do so because they have a hard time to build Wx.

Even if you don't care about Padre I think it would be important for all of the
Wx developers to help the CPAN smokers smoke Wx and all the modules
that depend on Wx.

Attached is a report from David Golden with some extra information:

This is the error:

In file included from Wx.c:66:
cpp/helpers.cpp: In function 'wxVariant wxPli_sv_2_wxvariant(SV*)':
cpp/helpers.cpp:1290: error: call of overloaded 'wxVariant(NV)' is ambiguous

and having it install them from source.

Yes. Though the 2.6 ones are also installed.

$ wx-config --list

    Default config is gtk2-unicode-release-2.8

  Default config will be used for output

  Alternate matches:
    base-unicode-release-2.8

 $ wx-config --version
