I think the problem is in wxWidgets and not in wxPerl; I remember a
similar problem reported by somebody from Kephra (I can't remember if by
Herbert himself or somebody else).

If the two links above do not help, and the problem can be reproduced
in the STC sample from wxWidgets, you should try asking on a wxWidgets
