On the other hand I have to admit that there are some strange 64bit troubles with Wx module so it wont be easy to install Padre on 64bit MS Windows anyway.
Just thought I'd add a note that these are mingw-w64 related problems. There are Wx ppm's available for 64bit Windows based on 2.8.10 - just not compiled with mingw-w34. I thought I'd give the 64bit MS compiler a run and everything works with one minor change. In fact there are ppms for Windows x86 & x64, linux x86 & x86_64 and MacOSX universal. All of these work on a variety of editions / distributions - with a sub-repository thrown in if you really must deploy on a GTK below 2.8.
There is no Padre ppm for Win x64 - but that is a problem with other dependencies (I didn't get past Win32::API).
I would not want anyone browsing the thread to think that working binary distributions for Perl + stable 2.8 Wx are not available / possible for x64 Windows already - or that it can't be compiled from CPAN if anyone wishes to.
