1. Make sure "Displays have separate Spaces" is OFF. XQuartz does not work with this configuration yet. 2. You want to switch XQuartz to full-screen mode (Preferences > Output > Full-screen mode). 3. If you were expecting to use an X11 window manager to manage native windows... this does not work and will never work.
