Hi,

No, I haven't noticed anything like this myself (I'm still on 10.9, and don't
use different "spaces" for different displays, I'm old-fashioned like that ;)).
I also use xfwm4 with an xcfe4 panel to manage my X11 windows and relevant bits
of X11 session management.

However, I can relate to your scenario. I haved shuttled for years between 2 or
3 desks, each with a different external monitor. I've always had the external
as the main screen, so there never was any window jumping because of a change
in where the menubar was. However, I learnt that the best way to prevent window
re-arrangement between commutes was to

- use FUS to switch to the login screen. You can then actually detach an
external screen without incidence on your current session
- suspend the laptop, unhook any screens, commute, wake the laptop, attach
local screens
- log back in to my session.

You could try that and see if it makes a difference. Also, try to see what
happens when QuartzWM isn't running when you do your display toggle.

I'm guessing QuartzWM could be the culprit here, since windows that you have
moved or resized stay put as you'd like them to.
