No need to backup. The 2.7.7 installer will downgrade you just fine. > - somewhere back in the day I managed to get a standard $DISPLAY variable of > the form :0 or hostname:0 . Nope. You likely did 'launchctl unload -w /Library/LaunchAgents/org.macosforge.xquartz.startx.plist' which isn't undone by upgrading. If you deleted that file as your solution, then you'd need to make the change again. > With the earlier bundle-based .pkg format I'd just look through the pre- and > post-flight scripts to see what kind of unexpected things an installer might > do, but that's become complicated. This is the repo as imported to git from MacPorts. I still need to go through this and get it cleaned up for import into XQuartz github: https://github.com/jeremyhu/xquartz-scripts/tree/master/pkg/scripts The only delta since then in the scripts is the addition of '[[ -e /opt/X11/lib/X11/xinit/launchd_startx ]] && touch /tmp/.xquartz_first_time' to the pre-install script. --Jeremy > > > Thanks, > René > > _______________________________________________ > Do not post admin requests to the list.
