I have no idea how well the Mac-specific code in XOrg is actually maintained, but I've found it rather easy to update the xorg-server-devel port myself. I did that when XQuartz started crashing on me (on 10.9.5, which hadn't seen any updates for a while at that time...!). I see the original port is now a bit ahead of me again but more recent that the version I have on my Linux rig so I'm fine with that. Linux is also moving away from X11 btw. or rather, to a new implementation that runs under Wayland. That implementation should run almost unmodified for us if Wayland were supported on Mac; efforts should probably focus on that. _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
