Note that constant qp (--qp) and CRF (--crf) encodes will have a different bit rate than before (higher bit rates / larger files for a given setting). Average Bit Rate (--bitrate) encodes will end up with the same bit rate as before, but the initial bit rate will have more variation than before, until we are able to make some adjustments to our ABR rate control algorithm. So it is recommended to do 2 pass encodes to compare visual quality with previous builds of x265.
